Proposed Legislation Targets Trucker English Proficiency
A new bill has been introduced that would create a standardized test to verify truck drivers’ English proficiency. Another proposed measure would require all interstate weigh stations to check commercial drivers’ licenses for irregularities and confirm drivers meet English language requirements.

U.S. Truck Freight Tonnage Declines in September
Trucking activity across the U.S. fell in September, reaching its lowest level in three months. The American Trucking Associations’ For-Hire Truck Tonnage Index reported a 0.9% decline, following gains of 0.9% in August and 1.1% in July.

HSCSD Annual Luncheon
The Houston Ship Channel Security District (HSCSD) leads a regional, multi-layered partnership protecting supply chain operations along the channel. Through the Port Security Grant Program, it funds advanced technology and infrastructure upgrades to enhance safety and security. Annually, the District hosts a board meeting and luncheon for government, law enforcement, and industry partners.
